July 2007 Community Belly Dance
July 15, 2007 - Lots of new dancers this month! This month's Community Belly Dance was a bit different than most, we had a wide variety of dance styles and an awesome group dancearound at the evening's close.
Sahaya presented a graceful Greco-Roman fusion dance, Robin made the trip again from Mt. shasta CA. for a Tribal dance fusion, and there were surprising mixtures of traditional dance with other styles throughout the evening.
But the real treat, when you could tell everyone was having the greatest of times, was the dancearound at the end of the evening. At the beginning, middle, and end of the dance, we hold a free-style "dancearound" where everyone is welcome to get up and dance, including spectators. The floor was full, everyone joined hands and each dancer found her way into the center of the circle to show her moves - including a very young dancer - 5 - tricked out in her dance costume. The posting of this July event comes in November, apologies to everyone for taking so long to get it published but as you know Zarifa is very busy with her business and the Community Dance comes out of her free time.
Zarifa's Community Belly Dance is a FREE dance event Zarifa has organized for the second Sunday of each month at the G Street Bar and Grill in Grants Pass, Oregon, from 5 - 7 PM. It's simple: show up and dance, no door charges, everyone gets to dance! Beginners and experienced dancers are all welcome.
